Android N Featuring Jack 'n Jill's Chocolate NIPS

A free taste of Android N has already been circulating online after Google released the developer preview of the upcoming version last March 9. It's expected to be rolled out to capable devices after the Google I/O 2016 annual developer conference in May.

There's an ongoing poll in Google Playstore which most netizens think will decide the name of Android's latest OS.

Filipinos would surely be delighted to have their local chocolate candy be considered as one of the choices for Android 7.0.

Myphone Uno - A Taste of Android Marshmallow

After my unsuccessful attempt at owning an SKK Lynx (read story here), my wife offered me another chance to replace my aging cellphone since Christmas is just around the corner.

This time around, I was aiming for a smaller Android unit, less than the common 5-inch screeners so that I can comfortably carry it in my pocket. And with our recent delightful experience with Lazada (read review here), I decided to shop online again.

To cut the story short, I found another fabulous online deal - Myphone Uno for only 2,100 Pesos!

Lazada Myphone Uno pack

Basically it's just an entry-level phone, with less than average specs than what is currently found in the market. Big brother Google wanted to make Android accessible for the masses that's why it partnered with local manufacturers to offer affordable cellphones under its Android One program.

Aside from its low price, what made me go after Myphone Uno was the guarantee from Google that the phone will receive continuous updates for the next two years. So it means that I'll get to experience fresh Android servings first-hand even before it gets rolled out to the rest of the Android world!

Since I wasn't expecting much from this phone, I was a bit amazed at what this little gadget has to offer.

Android Lollipop Out-of-the-box: (Upgradeable to Marshmallow 6.0, Apps automatically install on external SD card)

Pretty Decent Camera: Snappier focus, more subtle flash (picture taken with good lighting)

Impressive Battery Life: Two (2) freaking days!!!

Experimental Android Features: System tuner appears by press-holding gear icon in notification bar.

I guess, I was most impressed with the upgrade to Android 6.0.1 -- all bloatware was gone and a measly 400Mb (approx.) was used by the latest Android OS. The camera was fined-tuned and battery became a beast. By the way, a hidden game can also be accessed by pressing the Android Marshmallow logo after activating it in System Settings ( About phone > Android version).

Overall, Marshmallow is a real sweet Android experience.

As of press time, Lazada returned (marked up?) the Myphone Uno to its original price of P4,700.

My First Lazada Experience

In the not so distant past, online stores conveyed a seemingly bad reputation of selling defective products, late deliveries or inflated prices.

But now times have changed as online shopping websites are rapidly becoming more popular among Filipinos. This urged me to try this emerging web service.

One of the fastest growing online shopping website is Lazada and a number of my colleagues claim to have a good experience with it. Fortunately, I was also scouting for a gift for my young kids since the holidays is just around the corner -- I'm thinking of giving them an electronic keyboard.

After comparing prices at music stalls located in SM, I found out that Lazada's price for the same item was way cheaper. Although still skeptical, I created an account at Lazada and submitted my order with the cash-on-delivery as the check-out option (just to be sure).

A few hours after, I was surprised to receive an email confirmation that my order was already being shipped although the delivery time frame in their website states that I'll be receiving my item within 3-4 days.

It was pretty amazing that in just 24 hours, my order was already delivered by Lazada and was in good condition. I prepared a letter of authorization for my wife since I'll be out for work, but the delivery guys told her that they only require it for credit card purchases, not for COD's.

The package also contained a return slip (LBC), already paid by Lazada should there be any defects or issues with the product. By the way, the price at SM was around 1,800 Php and I got it from Lazada for only 950 Php. It was such a bargain! Here are some pictures of the electronic keyboard:

In my first attempt at online shopping, I can say that I'm pretty satisfied with Lazada.

Badass 80's Kids Cartoon Shows

Though it's not Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday, I'm writing this post as a memoir of the cartoon shows of my long-lost childhood days.

During those times, when we're not playing rough and dirty street games like sipa, tumbang-preso, luksong-baka or moro-moro (agawang-base), we were pampered at home by cartoons with a good mixture of violence, ingenuity, camaraderie and heroism.

Most of them were aired dubbed in the English language. Look at how badass the cartoons the kids of this generation grew up with:

Centurions (1986)

ThunderCats (1986)

Silverhawks (1986)

G.I. Joe (1985)

He-Man (1983)

Voltron (1984)

Daimos (1978)

Voltes V (1977)

Are you an 80's or 90's kiddo? Feel free to add more to this list.
